  • High-resolution X-ray CT provides non-destructive three-dimensional mapping of density, enabling topology, structural visualization and quantitative analysis for a wide variety of samples, including live vertebrate and invertebrate animals, insects, plants, fossils, electronics and materials.  Click here for more information.

  • Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) enables flow cytometry sorting of suspended cells according to their individual fluorescence characteristics, reported by cell surface antibody markers, genetically-introduced fluorescent proteins or exogenously-introduced vital indicators.  Click here for more information.

  • Confocal microscopy enables acquisition of three-dimensionally resolved fluorescence images by collecting emissions only from the focus of a scanned laser beam.  Our state-of-the-art confocal microscopes have tremendous flexibility in terms of excitation laser lines, emission color, automated sampling protocols, and environmental controls.  Click here for more information.

  • Our custom built multiphoton microscope (a technology invented at Cornell) enables confocal-like imaging using nonlinear optics, a technique which excels when imaging optically cloudy specimens (e.g., live tissues or mice), UV-excited fluorophores, or fibrillar collagen.  Click here for more information.

  • Super Resolution (SR) Microscopy is a name given to a family of fluorescence-based microscopies that break the resolution limit (determined by diffraction in perfect optical system). There are a handful of different SR technologies available in the imaging facility.  Click here for more information.

  • A Zeiss laser capture microdissection system is available for extracting cells or other regions-of-interest from tissue sections.  Click here for more information.

  • We have a range of optical microscopes with stereo, fluorescence, DIC, phase and polarization optics.  Click here for more information.

  • A cuvette-based spectrofluorometer is available for measurement of relative fluorescence, fluorescence emission and excitation, kinetics, polarization and anisotropy, and energy transfer.  Click here for more information.

  • Imaging platforms are available for macro level bioluminescence imaging in whole small animals (e.g., mice), plants and other organisms.  Click here for more information.

  • High resolution ultrasound can be used for many applications, including noninvasively scanning mice for tumors and for abnormalities in development and function.  Our VisualSonics Vevo2100 is particularly well suited to measuring anatomical structures, cardiac motion, and blood flows.  The system is equipped with gas anesthesia and synchronized ECG and breathing signals.  Click here for more information.
