Science commercialization is new slant to 3rd annual Symposium May 12

With the confirmation of keynote speaker, CEO Rohit Shukla from the Larta Insitute, the Cornell Center for Life Science Enterprise is looking forward to an interesting discussion on the importance of clear science communication when researchers consider application of their science to societal needs. Engage with panelists BJ Bormann, Senior Vice President, Business Development & Licensing at Boehringer-Ingelheim; Charles Cleland, National Program Leader, USDA Small Business Innovation Research Program; and Tony Eisenhut, Co-Founder of KensaGroup, which launches and develops leading edge intellectual property platforms into successful technology-based businesses.

A highlight of the afternoon's event will be the announcement of the awards; $10,000 first place and $1,000 second for this year's Center funded faculty member who best communicates the intent and outcome of his or her research to broad audiences through the competitive poster showcase judged by community members with varying degrees of science background.

An entertaining interlude by RedShift Productions will highlight some of the difficulties in communicating science to non-scientists.

In addition, displays at the event will showcase the many resources available on campus and in the community.

The event begins at 1pm in G10 Biotech and ends with a reception after 5pm.
