Online CAT Award Application FAQ’s I applied last year and have a password but it only allows me to view my previous application. What do I do if I want to apply again? Log off , and please get a new password assigned by initiating a new application. You may continue to use the same email address as your user name. I am an adjunct professor or senior research associate. Am I eligible to apply for a CAT Award? You must have a Form 5 on file to be eligible to be a PI. Information on the procedure can be seen through the Office of Sponsored Programs. There is a link at the bottom of the page http://www.research.cornell.edu/VPR/Policies/PI_eligibility_app.html to request PI status. Can funding be requested for two years? No, funding for all proposals is for one year. However, many investigators have received funding for a subsequent year after competing again in the general pool and by demonstrating successful completion of their proposed specific aims as well as tangible economic impact. I currently have an Innovation award. Can I request a continuation of the project? No. the Innovation awards will not be carried forward this year. However, if your project is appropriate for the new Nanobiotechnology Integrated Research Proposals administered through the Nanobiotechnology Center (see http://www.nbtc.cornell.edu ) you might consider applying there (March deadline has passed). For continuing CAT projects, you may apply again for funding through the Institute for Biotechnology and Life Science Technologies. Please do know, however, that priority is given to CAT projects which have economic impact and matching NY company funds. Maybe your current Innovation award can become a CAT proposal this year with matching funds. We strongly urge PI's to have matching funds for their projects. I have a proposal that includes an industrial collaborator. But I also have a new idea that doesn’t yet. Should I apply for a CAT award? PI's may submit a proposal for consideration to either the CAT competition or the new Nanobiotechnology Integrated Research Award program, but not for the same idea.
