The UltiMate3000 RSLCnano /Orbitrap Fusion Mass Spectrometer (Thermo Scientific) provides both nano and analytical scale of high mass accuracy, ultra high resolution and fast-scanning LC-MS/MS analyses for a broad range of applications, from in-depth discovery experiments to characterization of complex PTMs to comprehensive qualitative/quantitative workflows. The Tribrid architecture (quadrupole, Orbitrap and ion trap mass analyzers) with the availability of multiple fragmentation techniques (CID, HCD, ETD and EThCD) at any stage of MSn is especially powerful when facing complex and low abundance samples in proteomics, glycomics, lipidomics and metabolomics.

The 4000 Q Trap (ABSciex) features a hybrid triple quadrupole linear ion trap that enables operation in triple quadrupole mode or linear ion trap mode separately or a combination of both, which allows precursor ion scan-triggered MS/MS, neutral loss-triggered MS/MS and MRM-triggered MS/MS with data dependent acquisition other than the regular EMS-triggered MS/MS for high sensitivity protein IDs.  Thee resulting enhanced selective detection can be particularly valuable for hypothesis-driven PTM discovery analysis and target-based validation/confirmation analysis of low abundance analytes in complex samples.

The UltiMate3000 MDLC (Thermo/Dionex) has a built-in micro fraction collection option that allows for automated off-line 2D-LC analysis (SCX, HILIC, high resolution size exclusion LC and high-pH reverse phase fractionation followed by direct online nano LC-MS and LC-MS/MS) for shotgun proteomics.  The system provides analytical-scale HPLC analysis at high flow rates, coupled with the high sensitivity hybrid quadrupole linear ion trap (4000 Q Trap) mass spectrometer, which can facilitate a broad range of studies, including high throughput small molecule quantitation studies.
