The TapeStation is a high-throughput automated electrophoresis platform for nucleic acids. It utilizes disposable ScreenTapes that enable the running of 1 to 15 samples (plus a ladder) and has a runtime of ~2 minutes per sample. It analyzes DNA, RNA, and high molecular weight genomic DNA.

Be aware that this instrument will ‘smooth’ the fragment distribution in the traces generated. Also, this instrument starts at 35bp which tends to miss free primers present in a library.

NOTE: The Genomics Facility will not accept TapeStation QC traces as a replacement for QC on the Fragment Analyzer. If you are submitting samples, libraries or a final pool to the Facility for processing we will require a rerun on the Fragment Analyzer before moving forward.

• Users provide all reagents and supplies. All needed items are listed in the user guide. 
• In addition to the instrument, a vortexer, strip-tube minifuge, and thermocycler for RNA denaturing will be provided in the shared lab space.  
• Bring a USB flash drive to transfer your data; the computer is not networked.
