Join us for lunch and learn about the latest single-cell multiomics innovations from Element Biosciences
Considering in situ guide RNA sequencing or 3' polyA whole transcriptome profiling? Need ideas for your BRC Seed grant?
Join Element Biosciences and Cornell's BRC Epigenomics Facility for a
lunch-and-learn on applications of the AVITI24 system beyond DNA sequencing,
including single-cell multiomics that pairs 3' RNA sequencing with morphology
and protein readouts. Hear how the BRC Epigenomics Facility, an Element
Certified Service Provider, offers these assays and uses AVITI for low-cost,
high-quality sequencing of ChIP-exo, CUT&Tag, and ATAC-seq libraries.
Schedule a one-on-one with our experts, and ask about discounts on your first
single-cell multiomics run!
Sponsored by Element Biosciences/Epigenomics.

11/11/2026 - Webinar - DNASTAR Lasergene Software Workshop
DNASTAR offers software solutions for molecular biology, protein analysis, and genomics. In this workshop, attendees will be presented with an overview of the applications within the Lasergene suite. The instructors will use the latest software version, Lasergene 19, and demonstration data from real experiments to provide tutorials for various workflows, including: cloning and primer design, Sanger sequence alignment, multiple sequence alignment, protein analyses, and next generation sequence assembly and analysis. Q&A to follow.
DNASTAR is available to all Cornell faculty, staff and students (details here).
Molecular Biology and Protein (Session 1 - 10:00am-12pm):
- In-silico cloning, PCR primers design, and sequence annotation
- Sanger sequence assembly and analysis
- Multiple and pairwise sequence alignment
- Phylogenetic analysis
- Protein sequence and structure analysis
Genomics (Session 2 - 1pm-3pm):
- RNA-Seq analysis using DESeq2 and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA)
- Variant comparison across multiple samples
- Metagenomics
- de novo long-read assembly with annotation
Carl-Erik Tornqvist, PhD. Account Manager, DNASTAR
Carl-Erik Tornqvist is an Account Manager at DNASTAR. Carl-Erik earned a BS in Genetics and Plant Biology from the University of California – Berkeley and a PhD in Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he studied the genetics of plant development, with an emphasis on cell wall formation. As a postdoctoral researcher at UW-Madison, Carl-Erik studied the genetics of flowering time in switchgrass, a biofuel feedstock. Carl-Erik used DNASTAR software during his postdoc and soon after joined DNASTAR as a Sales Manager.
Thomas Leary. Genomics and Protein Specialist and Developer, DNASTAR
Mr. Leary earned his B.S. in Biology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and is a certified Stem Cell Technician. He is also a Python, JavaScript, and Java developer at DNASTAR and has been with the company for 10 years.
11/12/2026 - Seminar - Seeing your science in 3D with the SmartSPIM light sheet microscope
11/12/2026
11:00-12:00 Seminar
12:00-1:00 Lunch and Discussion
G10 Biotechnology
This seminar will introduce you to the BRC Imaging Facility's new LifeCanvas SmartSPIM light sheet microscope, which makes it remarkably easy to obtain beautiful organ-scale datasets from large cleared tissues. You will also learn how to optimally clear and mount your tissues to get the best possible data, and other practical details for light sheet imaging.
Agenda:
11:00am: Your Science in 3D: Whole-organ imaging with the BRC's SmartSPIM light sheet microscope
Chris Tsang, PhD - Sr. Field Applications Scientist, LifeCanvas Technologies
11:30am: Whole-brain mapping of behaviorally activated neurons
Dr. Thomas Cleland - Professor, Psychology, Cornell University
Lunch will be provided
Sponsored by the BRC Imaging Facility and LifeCanvas Technologies
11/13/2026 - Workshop - Beginner Fiji/ImageJ Workshop
11/13/2026
10:00am - 1:00pm
B30 Weill Hall
The workshop will be offered on three separate dates, and participants will attend only one session, as the same content will be presented at each workshop. To maintain a hands-on learning environment and provide opportunities for individualized assistance, each session is limited to 15 participants. Participants will be assigned to a workshop date based on their Fiji/ImageJ experience level and learning interests identified in the interest survey.
Registration is currently full. If you are interested in attending, please email brc_imaging@cornell.edu to be added to the waitlist.
